CALVIN & PILAR LOVATO
Calvin and Pilar Lovato are members of the Santo Domingo Pueblo in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They have been making jewelry together since they got married in 1983. They have won numerous awards at SWAIA Indian Market and at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ. Their art is called "Heishi" and utilizes various stones and shells which they make from raw materials such as turquoise and shell. The process involves 9 steps from start to finish. They learned their craft from their parents and enjoy making lovely jewelry for their customers. The Lovato’s hope that someday their children will continue the tradition of Heishi jewelry making.
