Aaron Lopez was born in Mexico City of an Aztec mother and Mixtec father. At a young age, he became enamored with found objects - such as rocks, pieces of wood, and nails, with which he would construct toys. In 1980, Aaron's friend, Patricia Guadarrama, inspired him to join an artisanal collective called "Movimiento Manos que Hablan". Here, Aaron learned the refined skill of braiding leather jewelry. He has been pursuing this creative passion fervently ever since. Aaron now lives in Santa Fe and remains one of the finest leather braiders in the Southwest.
